Portal 3: His daily routine

By Carlos Contreras.

Manuel Elkin Patarroyo begins his day very early, about 5am. He gets up to read about science, he takes his breakfast thinking about science and goes to work dreaming about science. He is an intellectually productive man, spends his time researching viruses and has written 338 scientific papers. During the day he spends his time doing experiments and looking through the microscope.

That's how he developed his famous malaria vaccine. He is also a family man. At the end of the day, he returns home and spends his free time with his grandchildren and his wife. He enjoys the company of his family very much. When he was younger he could not share much time with his children, that makes him sad. But his children knew that while he was working or at home, everything would be fine. He shares dinner with his whole family, talks about his day at work and grandchildren at school. He tells them stories before going to sleep. Before going to bed he leaves his work ready, then takes a shower, then takes a glass of milk and goes to sleep.

Patarroyo´s room.
